Summer 2018

Our 8-week summer program provides a holistic approach to self-identity and employment preparedness. During morning workshops, content experts use field trips, and hands-on activities to guide students’ learning. Subjects include game design, budgeting, self-care, and effective work habits. During afternoon sessions, students will work in the kitchen to learn about the economic benefits of baking and selling baked goods and learn about sustainable technologies by building, planting, and harvesting a hydroponic greenhouse system.

Fall 2018

September 10–December 21

Our resident baker will teach participants about baking (science, culture, preparation) and how to handle and process baked goods safely. Financial literacy workshops reinforce the value of saving money. Participants learn to create packaging and messaging for selling baked goods.

Winter 2019

Starts January 2019!

January we will start to offer apprenticeships at LSC’s bakery. Night Owl Bakers will learn skills in business administration, food sourcing, product development, and inventory management and quality control. Participants will apply their knowledge about systems, communications, and problem-solving and learn about supply chain management.
